How a custom piece comes together

A good tattoo is a drawing made for one person and one spot on their body. That is the whole idea behind booking by appointment: the time goes into your piece, from the first message to the last pass of the needle.

It starts with the idea

Tell us what you want and why it matters. You don’t need a finished design. A few reference photos, a sketch on a napkin or a screenshot of something you like gives your artist plenty to work from.

Then the design fits the placement

A forearm, a shoulder and a calf are different shapes, and a design should move with the body it sits on. Your artist draws the piece to fit where it goes, so it reads clearly when you’re standing, sitting or reaching for something.

Size decides how much detail holds

Fine detail needs room. Tattoo ink settles slightly into the skin over the years, so lines that sit very close together can soften and blend. If the idea is detailed, the piece needs enough size to carry it. We’ll be straight with you about what will hold up, and suggest a size that will still look sharp ten years from now.

Sessions and healing

Smaller pieces are often done in one sitting. Larger work, like a half sleeve or a detailed realism piece, is usually built over several sessions. You’ll know the plan before you book. At the end of each session you get aftercare instructions so the tattoo heals clean and bright.

Questions

Getting a tattoo at Lions Den

Do I need a finished design before I reach out?

No. Bring the idea, where you want it and roughly how big. Photos, sketches and screenshots help. The design gets drawn for you after we talk it through.

How long will my tattoo take?

It depends on the size, the detail and where it goes. Bigger pieces often take more than one session. You’ll know the plan before anything is booked.

Do you take walk-ins?

No. Lions Den is appointment only, so every session is booked ahead and nobody is waiting behind you.

How do I book?
